My Ranking Process
Deciding who to feature high up on this list of the best Ontarian online casinos wasn’t an easy task.
More and more casinos are getting their Ontario license, and the vast majority are offering safe betting, good games, and quality services.
In order to feature the best ones, I looked for these qualities:
- Legal and Trustworthy.
This goes without saying: all casinos featured on this page are 100% legal in Ontario. They each have an iGO license, meaning they can legally operate and offer their services to Ontarians.
The casinos I chose provide a fair and transparent gambling experience.
- Number and Types of Games.
This is one of the most important things any devout casino player will look for.
Having 1000+ games is optimal, but it’s the diversity of games that counts, too.
I always aim to feature casinos offering a wide variety of games and live casino options.
- Security.
When you’re gambling with real money, you need to be certain that your account and money are well-protected.
That’s why I favour casinos that ensure your safety, first by thoroughly verifying your identity, then by providing you with the option to protect your account via 2FA.
Fast and reliable withdrawal and a good reputation further demonstrate a casino’s security.
- Ease of Navigation.
Online casinos should allow you to have fun. And having to search and scroll endlessly just so you can start playing takes all the fun out of it.
The casinos featured on this list make it simple to find what you’re looking for and start playing.
- Good Casino App.
Finally, I gave special points to casinos that offer an easy-to-use, functional app you can download to play on the go.

Below is a quick overview of Ontario casinos with the most games available.
Bet99
Bet99 is primarily a sportsbook, but it definitely doesn’t lack casino games, either. Players can choose among 3000 different games created by Microgaming, Pragmatic, Quickspin, Playson, and Relax Gaming.
With 125 jackpot games, 65 live casino games, and exclusive titles, it provides everything a true casino lover may need.
PlayOJO
At 3000+ games, PlayOJO is easily among the top real money casinos available in Ontario. Out of those 3000+, more than 2000 are slots, and there are 30 different game providers to choose from.
These include Microgaming, NetEnt, and Booming games.
Those who enjoy playing exclusive games have a decent choice of 15+ at PlayOJO. What’s more, the extensive game filters available (such as the volatility one) make it super-easy to find just about any game you’d enjoy playing.
LeoVegas
With 1700+ slots, LeoVegas is one of Canadians’ favourite casinos. These slots include Wolf Gold and Book of the Dead, with 40 jackpots on top of it all.
I didn’t find many casinos that offer as many live games, either — 75, to be precise.
All of the games are created by top software providers, such as NetEnt, Microgaming, and Play’n GO.
The State of Ontario’s Legal Online Casinos in 2024
Since Ontario’s iGaming market became fully legal on April 4, 2022, more and more online casinos are looking to offer their services to Ontarians.
Brief History of Ontario’s Online Casino Market
Gambling is legal in Canada and Ontario alike, and here’s a short overview of how Ontario’s legal casino market developed:
- Jan 28, 2022: iGaming Ontario (iGO) sets April 4th, 2022 as the date of Ontario’s iGaming market going live.
- Starting on March 3rd, the first big players start getting their AGCO approvals and applying for iGO licenses. Among them are 888Casino, FanDuel, BetRivers.ca.
- April 4th: Ontario’s iGaming market is officially live!
From that point until 2024, 70+ casinos have gotten AGCO approval.
At the time of writing this, 70+ online casinos possess an Ontario license and are available to Ontarian players.
But how exactly does the legalization process work?
Online Casino Licenses in Ontario
The first thing to know is that Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) oversees the online casino market. Alongside it, they also oversee slot machines, lotteries, and racetrack betting.
In order for an online casino to be legal in Ontario, they first need to get approval from AGCO. Once they have AGCO’s approval, only then can they apply to get an Ontario license.
Even with the AGCO approval, an online casino still can’t offer its services legally to Ontarians.
The road to getting the license to operate in Ontario is not easy for offshore operators. They need to prove their worth and security in order to be fully available to Ontarians.
Once they get the official iGaming Ontario license, they can start legally offering their services.
But be advised that only those aged 19 or more can legally gamble, as that’s the legal betting age for Ontario.
Payment Methods
When it comes to different ways players can deposit money and withdraw their winnings, Ontarian online casinos allow a wide variety of options.
Some of the most popular include:
- Mastercard
- Visa
- iDebit
- MuchBetter
- Neteller
- ecoPayz
- Interac
- Neosurf
- paysafecard
- INSTADEBIT
- PayPal
- Skrill
Other available methods of depositing and withdrawing money include Entropay, Maestro, PayForIt, Ukash, Zimpler.
Types of Online Casino Games Available to Ontarians
One of the online casinos’ appeals is the wide variety of games players get to choose from. Whether you prefer playing slots, table games, or even live casino games, you’ll find them among Ontario’s online casinos.
Here is an overview of the most popular games you can find:
- Slots & Jackpots
- Roulette
- Craps
- Card play
- Live casino games
- Specialty games
- Bingo
- Scratch games
- Keno
and even crash games at casinos like Bet99 and PlayOJO.
How to Sign up for an Online Casino in Ontario
Signing up to online casinos in Ontario is usually very straightforward.
First, you’ll need to disclose some personal information, such as your name, date of birth, address, and telephone number.
Once you’ve signed up, you’ll have to prove your identity.
This shows the casino that you’re a real person, spending your own money, rather than attempting some sort of scam. It will also help prove you’re 19, which is the legal age for gambling in Ontario.
Additionally, it helps protect you from someone trying to pose as yourself while gambling.
In order to prove your identity, you’ll likely be asked to take a photo of your ID card, passport, or driver’s license.
Meanwhile, utility bills will help confirm your address.
To prove you have funds with which you wish to play, and to confirm your payment method, prepare your bank statements.
In order to finish up the identity verification process, you’ll likely be asked for a selfie.
Here’s an example of the signup process for PlayOJO, so you have a better understanding of what it looks like.
1. First, I was asked to disclose my phone number and birthday.
2. Next, I provided personal information such as name, gender, and email.
3. One of the final steps was disclosing my address of residence.
4. Finally, I created my username and password and finished creating my profile!
5. Once I’ve created my profile, I still had to prove I am who I was claiming to be — and it started with confirming my phone number.
When I proved my identity and location, I was able to place my first minimum deposit and start playing!

Will There Be New Online Casinos in Ontario?
At the moment of writing this, there are 70+ online casinos with an iGO license.
Several more casinos have already applied to get their license, so it’s very likely that the number of legal online casinos available to Ontarians will be growing.
Not only are more AGCO-approved brands likely to dip their toes into Ontario, but there’s a good chance that more online casinos will be applying to AGCO as well.
Who Can Play at Online Casinos in Ontario?
To start playing at online Ontario casinos, you need to:
- Be at least 19 years of age
- Be physically present in Ontario at the time of playing
Casinos have ways (and are obligated under law) to check both of these requirements. Once you sign up, you won’t be able to play until you can verify your ID, thus proving your age.
You’ll also have to use a geolocation tool in order to prove you’re currently in Ontario.
Types of Gambling Available in Ontario
Casino games are very popular among Ontarians, both traditional and crash games. But more versatile bettors can also enjoy sportsbooks and plenty other gambling options.
The province’s legal gambling market consists of:

- However, most of them also allow betting on football, lacrosse, soccer, or even eSports. The best of them also cover niche sports such as cricket, chess, or Jai Alai.
- Lotteries (including bingo)
- Charitable Gaming.
