bwin Canada Review 2022
|Provinces||ON, AB, BC, MB, NB, YT, SK, QC, PE, NU, NS, NT, NL|
On April 12th 2022, bwin joined legal betting brands of Ontario. The Austrian company received its iGO license and started offering its services in Ontario and all other Canadian provinces.
Formerly known as betandwin, the betting company previously acquired all the necessary licenses to operate in countries like Gibraltar, Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, and more.
But what can it offer to Canadians? How does it fare against the other legal brands offering their services to Ontarians?
We investigated everything there is to know about bwin’s sportsbook, odds, casino, app, and much more.

Is bwin Safe?
Borussia Dortmund Sponsors
Early Warning Systems to Prevent Fraud
Extensive Responsible Gaming Section
As mentioned before, prior to becoming licensed in Ontario, bwin also gained a plethora of international licenses, confirming its good reputation and trustworthiness.
What’s more, the sportsbook has been a proud sponsor of numerous soccer teams.
Some of the biggest former partners include Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Manchester United.
Recently, bwin have extended their partnership with Borussia Dortmund — we’ll check later on whether that means better odds on their matches as well.
To confirm its good reputation, bwin is thorough at making sure you and your account stay safe.
For one, there are early-warning systems in place, created to stop criminal activity before it even happens.
If the platform notices you’ve suddenly increased your stakes, or if there’s any other unusual behaviour, they’ll limit what you can do until they can further investigate whether a scam is taking place.
When it comes to casinos, as a member of the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA), bwin has to abide by the laws that ensure their practices are fair and secure.
bwin’s dedication to your well-being is clear from the extent of its responsible gambling practices.
For example, while you can lower your daily/weekly/monthly depositing limit at any time, increasing it requires additional confirmation and won’t become effective until 24 hours have passed.
This serves to a) protect you from scams, and b) to stop impulsive behaviour that may end up costing you a lot of money.
Additionally, bwin’s responsible gaming section is rich with helpful readings. You’ll find it easy to determine whether you or someone you know has a gambling issue, and you’ll be able to contact those who can help.
How Does bwin Work?
Easy Sign Up Process
Navigating bwin’s website is a piece of cake. The menu is intuitive, with the options to easily browse through sports, live events, and even perform a search.
However, you won’t find quick access to their customer support, but we’ll explain how you can get to them further down in this guide.
Opening an account with bwin is extremely easy.
Sign Up Process
- First you’ll need to provide your email address and choose a password.
- Next, you’ll be asked to enter your full name, date of birth, citizenship, and choose from a list of occupations.
- Once you’re done with that, enter your address of residence and your mobile number.
- After that, you’ll be logged in, and able to add a few optional details if you wish to.
- What comes next is choosing your daily, weekly, or monthly deposit limit, as well as a loss limit.
While you can leave this step for later, we strongly encourage you to do it right away and make sure you’re gambling responsibly.
- Before you’re able to place your first bet, you’ll need to verify your identity.
If you’re not sure how to do that, you can start a live chat right away and bwin’s customer support will help you out.
bwin Sports Betting
Popular and Niche Sports Available
Varied and Prop Bets
Good Odds for Sponsored Teams’ Matches
Odds for Favourites Could be Better
bwin presents Canadian bettors with a good combination of popular and niche sports.
While you can bet on basketball, baseball, hockey, MMA, or soccer, those who are more into alpine skiing, beach volleyball, or biathlon will also enjoy what this sportsbook has to offer.
Betting markets bwin offers are pretty standard. You’ll find moneyline bets, spreads, over/under, totals.
bwin also offers plenty of interesting prop bets to spice it up.
Here’s what prop bets were available for the game between Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen:
- Most goals by minute 05:00, 15:00, or halftime
- Bayer Leverkusen to win to nil
- Number of teams to score in the first, second half, or regular time
- Who gets the last corner
- Borussia Dortmund to lead at any time.
|Atletico Ottawa||Draw||Forge FC|
And since bwin have recently extended their partnership with Borussia Dortmund, let’s see some of the odds offered for them, too:
|Borussia Dortmund||Draw||Bayer Leverkusen|
Bwin have also sponsored Valencia CF up until last year. We decided to check if there’s no love lost between them, or if you can still get good odds:
|Valencia CF||Draw||Girona FC|
Based on our research, when it comes to soccer, bwin offers either average or slightly lower odds for the favourite. The odds for the underdog are also average, with some sportsbooks like LeoVegas and Royal Panda offering significantly higher odds, and 888Sport offering lower ones.
But one thing that pops up are the odds for the draw option.
For both clubs that bwin had partnered up with, the sportsbook is offering by far the highest odds in case of a draw.
Finally, let’s compare the odds for the upcoming FIFA World Cup:
If you’re planning a futures bet, betting on England at bwin would get you the most money should you win, along with LeoVegas and Royal Panda.
Let’s see what the odds are like for tennis:
|Ilya Ivashka||Tommy Paul|
For tennis, the story is slightly different. Here, bwin and LeoVegas share the highest odds for the favourite, and 888Sport offers the highest odds for the underdog.
Overall, bwin’s odds seem to be average, except for the draws of their sponsored clubs. That’s where you might be able to find some surprisingly good odds.
Auto Cashout Available
Additional Soccer Tools
No Comprehensive Statistics Page
One of bwin’s main appeals is the sheer amount of betting tools it offers. In that regard, it’s among the best sportsbooks Canadians can bet at.
Bettors can choose to cash out on single and multiple bets. What’s more, you can use Auto Cash Out option to have your winnings pulled automatically once a threshold is passed.
Alternatively, Notify Cash Out sends you a notification when the winnings exceed a certain limit. In that case, you can decide for yourself whether you want to cash your winnings or go all the way.
Live Betting and Streaming
Not only can you live bet at bwin, you can live stream the matches, too!
As long as you either have money in your account, or you’ve placed a bet in the last 24 hours, you’ll be able to follow matches live.
And if you’re in the middle of a live bet and want no delays, or have no technical possibilities for a live stream, bwin makes following the current affairs on the field very fun and straightforward.
Another neat betting tool bwin offers is bet building on selected sports, although you can only use this option before the match begins.
The option to edit a bet is also available on select markets, both before and in-game.
Another thing we really like about bwin is that every type of bet is thoroughly explained. Even if you’re a complete beginner, you’ll find it easy to place your first bet!
Meanwhile, one thing soccer fans will really appreciate is the new Teams option. Choose a team from virtually any top division, and you’ll be able to see their upcoming matches.
Additionally, if you’re after a specific game, you can save it among favourites to easily locate it later on.
The only thing we feel is missing from the Ontario website are additional statistics and news that might help bettors place the best bets.
While such a section exists on bwin’s original website (and you can easily access it under the “About us” section), the Ontarian portion of the platform doesn’t have it.
First-Persona Table Games
Almost 1000 Games
Apart from a great sportsbook offering, bwin also has an amazing number (and versatility!) of casino games. With almost 1000 choices, it’s among the better casinos you can gamble at.
The varied choice of games includes slots, jackpots, roulette, and table games like poker, blackjack, or baccarat.
The slots themselves make up 680+ games, and that’s not counting the unique Megaways slots.
There are even exclusive games you can take a shot at.
But it doesn’t end there. With live casino and first-persona table games, gamblers can get an authentic casino experience from the comfort of their homes.
What’s more, those who aren’t sure what to play can easily find what they like thanks to great categories the games are put in.
Some of those are “best new games”, “best slots in Ontario”, “popular exclusives”, and many more.
Does bwin Have an App?
App easily Downloadable From an Email
Great Mobile Experience
App not Available on the Play Store
May Trigger a Malware Warning
The good news is, bwin does have a mobile app you can use to place bets or play casino games.
To download it, you need to be signed up. As soon as you register, bwin will send you an email from which you can download the app with just one click!
This is especially neat for Android users, as the app isn’t available on the Play Store. Meanwhile, Apple users can opt to download it from the App store.
One slight downside we found is that the app may trigger your mobile device to recognize it as malware. And while the app itself is safe, this may make some users a bit uncertain about downloading it.
Those who don’t want to download the app but want to occasionally place their bets on mobile will find it easy. Bwin’s interface is just as intuitive on mobile, with the main menu being split into two – one at the top, the other at the bottom.
Thanks to this, you can still access all of the most important options right from the homepage.
Variety of Payment Methods
Low Deposit and Withdrawal Limits
Standard Deposit Limit Can be Decreased
Withdrawals May be Cut Into Several Payments
Bwin has a nice selection of payment methods for deposits and withdrawals. These include:
- Fast Bank Transfer
- Interac online
- Interac e-transfer
- Google pay
- Apple pay
When withdrawing money from bwin, you may find it being split into multiple payments, over a few payment methods.
This happens because bwin looks to refund your deposits first, before pulling the rest of the money to your preferred payment method.
For example, if you used PayPal to deposit $50 and your Mastercard to deposit another $50, even if you opt to withdraw $200 to just one of those, the deposits will need to be covered first.
Therefore, only after you’ve gotten $50 on both your PayPal and Mastercard, the rest of the winnings will go to your preferred payment method.
Deposit and Withdrawal Limits
At bwin, the deposit and withdrawal limits are both $10, which is fairly low compared to most sportsbooks that ask you to deposit $20.
The great thing is, Bwin lets you request a lower-than-standard deposit limit, whether it’s daily, weekly, or monthly.
You can also opt to set a higher deposit limit. But while the request for decreasing it will be implemented instantly, you’ll have to wait for 24 hours for your limit to be increased.
As we mentioned before, it’s all so you’re protected from both scams and overspending.
Great Help Section
24/7 Live Chat
Contacting Customer Support Tricky
Bwin has one of the most extensive help sections we’ve seen in a sportsbook.
To start with, all bets and games are thoroughly explained, so complete beginners can know where to begin.
Each betting tool is covered in detail as well.
What’s more, there is a 24/7 live chat, and email contact, but it’s a bit tricky to find them. We’ve gone through the whole process so you know exactly what to look for.
- First, click on bwin’s Help & contact section.
- Next, choose the category you need help with. Let’s say you want to know more about how to game responsibly.
- Then, you’ll need to narrow down your question.
Given that bwin’s FAQ section is so extensive, you may not even need to contact them directly.
- But if you find this still doesn’t answer all of your questions, all you need to do is click “Yes” when asked whether you need more help.
- Then, you’ll be able to choose between contacting bwin’s customer service via email or a 24/7 live chat.
We believe that Canada’s legal betting market has gained a lot by having bwin join it.
The sportsbook offers almost 30 sports, among which are both Canadians’ favorites and more niche picks.
With a variety of betting markets and tools (especially live streaming), as well as good odds for their sponsored clubs, it’s likely to attract quite a few bettors.
The operator is dedicated to keeping players safe, which is clear from its many licenses, responsible gaming resources, and warning systems against scams.
Moreover, bwin has an extremely detailed FAQ section, one which often makes the hassle of contacting them obsolete.
There are only a few things which may need some additional work. Among them are split withdrawals, lower odds for the favourites, and the lack of a statistics/news section on the Ontario platform.
But with so many tools and options, these negatives are hardly enough to make a dent in the positive picture we’ve formed of this brand.
