Is Betano Legal in Canada? | Latest Updates

Betano is a fairly new online casino owned by the fast-growing Greek tech company Kaizen Gaming.

On August 17th, it acquired the official Alcohol and Gaming Ontario (AGCO) license.

What does that mean for its future in Canada?

Is this a safe, reliable brand Canadians can look forward to betting at?

We’re answering all those and many other questions you might have about the operator’s legal standing in Ontario and the rest of Canada.

Let’s see what the future may hold for this operator!

Betano Overview

Pros

AGCO Approved

Great Selection of Sports

Varied Betting Markets

Great Betting Tools

Downloadable App

Cons

No iGO License Yet

Live Streaming not Always Available

Live Chat Not 24/7

  • AGCO Approval

  • Dedicated to Responsible Gambling

  • Regularly Sponsors Soccer Clubs

  • No iGO License Yet

Betano is a safe, well-renowned brand. It’s owned by Kaizen Gaming which has been around since 2012.

Kaizen Gaming created Betano in 2017, and the brand has since launched in several European and South American countries.

Their next stop is Canada, as the operator received an AGCO license and has applied for the official iGO license.

Soon, it will be completely legal in Ontario!

Sponsorships

Another thing that speaks of Betano’s trustworthiness are the brand’s soccer sponsorships.

safe brand

Betano has sponsored multiple soccer teams throughout the years, such as Panathinaikos FC, Sporting CP, and PAOK FC, to name a few.

Responsible Gambling

Finally, Betano is dedicated to their bettors’ wellbeing, which is clear from the brand’s responsible gaming tools found on European websites.

From customer driven limits and financial limits to self-exclusion options, the brand ensures the bettors have all the tools they need to gamble responsibly.

There are also multiple links to helpful services players can contact if they realize they have a gambling issue.

  • Live Casino Available

  • Works With Play’N Go and Novomatic

  • In Some Markets Only Slots Available

While Betano does have a separate casino section, it tends to differ across countries.

For example, in Germany, they only have slots available (although there is around 1000 of them, which pretty much makes up for it!), while other countries have a wider choice that includes:

  • Roulette
  • Baccarat
  • Poker
  • Bingo
  • Slots.
live casino

Live casino games tend to be available as well, especially roulette and blackjack.

Regardless of what their Canadian casino will look like once the brand is legal, players can likely hope for some popular games created by the same providers Betano partners with in Europe — Play’n Go and Novomatic.

  • Downloadable App

  • Not Available for iOS in Some Markets

Good news: European and South American bettors can bet on the go thanks to a Betano app!

Depending on the country, it’s either available for Android only, or for iOS as well.

We found that it can easily be downloaded off the website, and we hope Canadian players will get to enjoy it, too!

  • Varied Payment Methods

  • Locally Popular Payment Methods Included

  • May Not Have a Lot of Payment Methods Available

Betano tends to have varied payment methods available, such as credit cards, paysafecard, or Skrill. However, the number of these payment methods can be a bit limited.

Another positive aspect is that the brand tends to accept payments via the most popular methods in each country.

For example, in Germany, it uses Sofort, which is specific to only a couple of countries in Europe.

We hope they’ll follow suit in Canada as well and include Canadians’ favourite payment methods!

  • Extensive FAQ Section

  • Live Chat Available

  • Live Chat Not 24/7

Although Betano has a live chat option, it tends to only be available from 09:00 to 01:00.

For those with less urgent questions, there are also email and call back options.

But the one option we liked the most is the brand’s FAQ section. We’ve rarely been able to see a more detailed one, with sub-sections like account, security, verification, and a huge one on betting itself.

We’re hoping to see the same amount of useful information on the Canadian website once Betano has its iGO license!

The list of operators that have applied for an iGaming Ontario license is long and growing by the day!

In fact, other brands that we expect to have an iGO license include Stake Casino and PowerPlay.

Now that Betano has been approved by the AGCO, nothing stands in the way of them applying for an iGO license. This would allow them to legally offer their services to Ontarians.

We hope to see Betano on the list of legal brands in Ontario by the end of the year! As soon as they acquire an iGO license, we’ll be sure to let you know.

While you wait for Betano to acquire its Canadian license, there are plenty of available legal options to bet at instead.

Each of these online betting sites have an official iGO license, meaning they’re legal in Ontario, safe, and reliable.

Many of them are also available in other Canadian provinces!
